Would it be physically possible to swap a 1GZ-FE V12 into a second generation LS ? I need to know for...reasons.

My concern is what it’s going to take to flip the mechanicals, mirror the dashboard, and convert a Century to left hand drive, once we can get the V12 models over here.

More effort than it’s worth. It’d be easier to just use it in right hand drive. Once these engines become available in county I might actually try to go through with the swap.

About 4,000x the work that it takes to drive a RHD car in a LHD country.

I don’t see why not, provided you don’t mind doing some cutting.

I didn’t think it would be possible to make an LS400 even smoother, yet here this idea is.

The correct way to drive a Century is to have a 300lb Yakuza minion do it for you. At which point what side he’s sitting on becomes not your problem.

I’m thinking the 1GZ is too big... the 1UZ is kind of a tighter fit in the LS as it is.

I’ve seen a 1jz manual fit lengthwise and the swap finished, so very likely would fit. Would be somewhat interesting since it’s not a typical power swap (doing it for a reason other than to get more power). Still would take work to get it done. I would be weird enough to do it just for fun, but I’d also be the guy who would consider a diesel electric setup, or a whole GS450h drivetrain.

Why, given it only has “276 horsepower?”

Plebe. Just get a 600hL. It was more expensive than this car.

While it’s realistically closer to 330, it’s all in the pursuit of smoothness. That and I’m a bit pissed off that Lexus never made a factory V12 LS, so I want to make my own.

oh I know, it’s a remnant of the old “gentlemen’s agreement” amongst the Japanese car companies not to advertise more than 280 PS (276 hp.) just seems funny to me that the last thing Toyota still applies it to is a 5.0 liter DOHC V12.

Dammit, I don’t want right hand drive! I’ll make a drivers-ed car out of it and screw a second steering wheel to the right side if I must!
